The story of a young boy, Yaguchi Yatora, discovering his passion for art and deciding to follow it as his dream, has interested many and today we discuss Blue Period Season 2.

Art is a new dimension in the anime world. It makes us look deeper into ourselves. It makes us feel the emotions that the artist has tried to portray through a simple drawing.

Blue Period, a Netflix show with 12 episodes, aired from the 2nd of October to the 18th of December. It has a rating score of 3/5 from Rotten Tomatoes and 7.8/10 from IMDb.

The Blue Period manga holds the capability for a live adaptation as a real-life actor can portray the emotions described here much better. The emotions can actually be visualized appropriately that have been described in the manga if adapted well.

For instance, we witness that how beautifully a combination of certain colors can portray a hundred emotions. For example, the art Yatora made in anger and frustration was accompanied by vibrant, bright, and warm colors whereas a sleepy Shibuya consisted of a cold blue hue.

It’s a beautiful anime that talks about art being heavily intertwined with a person’s emotions.

In this following article we will cover everything you need to know about Blue Period second season, so sit tight while we guide you through it.

Blue Period Season 2 Release Date

The production of Blue Period Season 2 has not been confirmed by any of the companies related to its production.

As for the reviews, Blue Period Season 1 has not gained much popularity after its release. It did not make it to the Netflix Japan top 10. It has lacked the popularity it deserved.

However, Blue Period is quite popular as per MyAnimeList with a rating of 7.9/10. Given that it’s an art manga, it is somewhat esoteric but it’s still popular.

As some of us might know, Netlfix is somewhat expected to renew seasons of anime that have not been able to make it to the top.

We might expect Blue Period Season 2 to release around July 2023.

Dragon Ball Super Season 2 and Mushoku Tensei Season 3 are also set to start airing around the same time as Blue Period second season.

Blue Period Season 1 was directed by Koji Masunari and Katsuya Asano, written by Reiko Yoshida, produced by Mainichi Broadcasting System, DMM Pictures and Bit Groove Promotions, and licensed by Netflix, we expect them to remain the same for Blue Period Season 2.

Although this is just mere speculation so for now, all we can do is wait for further updates from the production companies.

Season 1 Recap

The anime was named and based on Pablo Picasso’s work – The Blue Period, which is known to be one of the most significant periods of his career.

Apart from that, if the reference of the anime is taken in hand itself, Yaguchi Yatora, who always tried to blend in with the people around him instead of doing what he actually desires, finally breaks through this confinement by drawing a picture of Shibuya painted in ‘Blue’, to describe his feelings.

It’s an anime based on the manga of the same name that was written by Tsubasa Yamaguchi and published by Kodansha in the Monthly Afternoon magazine.

The story proceeds with Yatora being amazed by a painting made by his senior, Mori. He himself tries to test his abilities regarding art and finds the true essence of it.

Yatora feels that art is the most suited way through which he can express his feelings. He chose TUA (Tokyo University of Arts) as his goal, one of the toughest universities to get in.

After all, his conditions at home were pretty dull due to which his parents couldn’t afford a private university, thus TUA being his optimal choice.

The journey of his improvement, his realizations, his effort, his feelings, etc. is what made the anime so enjoyable.

We see a newbie at art, Yatora, practicing his way through all the hardships. First, he mastered still lives to make his hand suited to drawings, next, he started to express his feelings through art.

Blue Period Season 2 Episode 1 Spoilers

Yatora gets into TUA along with Yotasuke Takahashi, who was none other than his friendly rival. His life in TUA becomes more challenging, which we might see in Blue Period Season 2.

The environment there becomes much different from his prep school. The students there are mostly on their own.

Yatora experiences a bigger dimension in the way of his thinking which makes him confused and question his own thoughts.

Unlike prep school, the professors compel the students to find their own identity and their purpose. They question the students’ thoughts which leads to a lot of self-questioning.

Blue Period Season 2 Expected Cast

In the TUA arc, we will witness the inclusion of certain new characters. The future new voice actors are still unknown, but we expect the main cast to remain the same:

  • Hiromu Mineta as Yatora Yaguchi
  • Yumiri Hanamori as Ryuji Ayukawa
  • Yume Miyamoto as Maki Kuwana
  • Daiki Yamashita as Yotasuke Takahashi
  • Kengo Kawanashi as Haruka Hashida
  • Mayu Aoyagi as Maru Mori

The English subbed preview of the Blue Period S2 Episode 1 will air soon and we will share them here once out. So stay tuned and read our article on Komi Can’t Communicate Season 2 while you wait.
