World Trigger Season 2 release date has been finally announced and today we discuss the details about the upcoming Season 2 and when you can expect it to air online.
World Trigger – the name doesn’t ring a bell for most anime fans. It is one of the many hidden gems waiting to be discovered, just like the upcoming Vinland Saga Season 2. The anime and the manga have maintained a great quality throughout and even now, the story progresses smoothly.
Daisuke Ashihara’s World Trigger is a shonen manga series. It is published under the Shueisha banner, in the Jump Square magazine. It is a monthly series and gets published on Viz and Shonen Jump app. Currently, it has 22 volumes and a strong run towards a great arc.
World Trigger Premise:
Are you tired of overpowered protagonists? Are you into cool ranking systems? Do you like series with the large cast? Do you prefer action backed by analysis?
Do you like non-gory battles? Well, World Trigger is the perfect title for you. Set in a world where aliens are constantly invading, the series shows the strong defense force of humans and their new technology.
Our hero Osamu is an average soldier, in the middle ranks. Due to fate, he meets a friendly alien Yuuma and history is made. Yuuma has his own mission and masquerades as a trainee along with Osamu.
Make no mistake, despite his strength, Yuuma is good by nature. With the analytical and dedicated Osamu, and the sweet and helpful Chika, their team rises through the ranks.
Question is, can this team get strong enough to be selected in the Space Expedition? We are going to find out in World Trigger Season 2. Season 1 ended in the middle of the B Rank Wars. The sequel is bound is go ahead and finish this exhilarating competition.
World Trigger Season 2 Announcement:
It was back in December 2019, that World Trigger Season 2 was announced. In the Jump Festa 2020, the sequel was announced. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 outbreak has slowed things down. As of now, not much information is known. But a fair amount has been shared too!
Since Toei Animation has returned, it is probably TV Asahi who is producing, since they were the broadcaster. We believe Shueisha will be funding it too, since all the recent manga adaptations have been funded by them. But there is always a chance that a new producer has stepped in!
Toei Animation will be returning to create it. Toei is known for their long running series, such as Slam Dunk and One Piece.
Season 1 wanted to have a 50 episode run, but it was stretched to 73 episodes, probably because of the filler arc that had to be included. World Trigger Season 2 will probably have 50 episodes since there is enough source material to avoid fillers.
No trailer has been announced yet for the season 2 but we hope it to be released very soon.
World Trigger Season 2 Release Date:
Right now, the release date is unknown but we estimate the season 2 to air in March or April 2021. That will be enough time for Toei to get to a proper place and avoid lower quality delivery. Additionally, a lot about the Staff has been revealed.
The original cast will be returning: Yuki Kaji as Osamu, Tomo Muranaka as Yuuma, Tamura Nao as Chika, and Nakamura Yuuichi as Jin. The series director has changed from Mitsuru Hongou and Kouji Ogawa to Morio Hatano. He is known for Dragon Ball Super!
Scriptwriter Hiroyuki Yoshino and Designer Toshihisa Kaiya are returning to their old roles. The latter did an amazing job when he was the animation director of Haikyuu. As for music, it will be composed by Kenji Kawai, known for Mob Psycho 100.

World Trigger Season 2 Spoilers:
Going ahead, we are going to talk about the event about to occur in World Trigger Season 2. If you don’t want to get spoiled, now is the time to leave. But, if you want them, let’s get to it without further ado.
The B Rank Wars continue. Yuuma and Chika have become B-rank agents and they are unstoppable. Osamu is slowly but surely, proving his capability as a leader. Unfortunately, there will be a great invasion. Galopaula and Rodochroun will attempt to destroy the ship for Border’s Expedition.
After a huge clash, the attempt is foiled. As the Silver Lining here, an alien named Hyuse is left behind and he ends up joining Tomakoma Second!
He wants to return to his nation and Tamakoma’s steady rise supports his cause. With this amazing new teammate, Osamu will reach newer heights in the war.
Given the 50 episodes, the anime will probably end when Tamakoma reaches the top portion of the B Rank Squads after continuous battles.
With the B Rank Wars ended, the anime will give us a glimpse of the next arc, where the team for Expedition is selected and our heroes embark on a new journey!
